Are All Certificates of Authenticity Legitimate?

I have the opportunity to work with a variety of collectors all with different levels of experience. Many have opinions about certificates of authenticity or COAs. Most feel that they provide an assurance that their assets are authentic. Unfortunately, this isn't always the case.

The entertainment memorabilia world, like anywhere there is money to be made, has some shady characters. Certificates of authenticity can be easily forged or just misleading.
